Our dating history goes back to our days in the university. Back then, we were constrained by the limited allowance we had so for most of our dates, we would stick to simple, affordable fare. It was by chance one day, that we stumbled upon this particular eatery selling wanton noodles in a corner of Heeren (now Robinsons the Heeren).
Called "Graffiti Cafe", the eatery welcomed customers to doodle anywhere in the shop, be it the walls or the furniture. Its menu was straightforward, with only Pontian wanton noodles in black and/or chilli sauces though (FYI, Pontian is a district in Malaysia). Nonetheless, we were happy enough with this simple offering.
Now that we are better off financially, we have moved away from many of the food we used to eat during our pak tor days. However, one thing we still enjoy from those days is the Pontian wanton noodles.
Although the outlet at Heeren has closed for good, there are now several Graffiti Cafes around Singapore. And luckily for us, there is one within close proximity to our home.

Glad to say, the sauce options are still the same, the noodles still as springy and the wantons, still as appetizing. Just as in those days. The black and chilli sauce combination remains our favourite option even after many years. Eating this familiar bowl of wanton noodles evokes fond memories of our times spent at Heeren taking neoprints, window-shopping and laughing over funny doodles at the Graffiti Cafe.

On a side note, the menu have expanded to include desserts and drinks. For those who like the crunchy fried wantons, you can order them a la carte too. Both of us feel the best way to enjoy is to dip them in the mayonnaise provided. Yum yum!
May this simple bowl of wanton noodles continue to maintain its flavour.
